Our U18 Girls team fought hard this weekend to secure the state title in a thrilling 2-1 victory.
The Hillcrest Hawks U18 Girls capped off an outstanding season by winning the State Championship, showcasing the consistency, resilience, and teamwork that defined their year.
Entering the tournament with confidence after a strong regular season, the Hawks set the tone early with disciplined defense, aggressive serving, and a balanced offensive attack. From pool play through bracket matches, the team executed at a high level and handled increasing competition with composure.
“Our focus all season was on improvement and being ready when it mattered most,” said Head Coach Megan Lawson. “This group trusted the process and played for each other all weekend.”
The quarterfinals provided the toughest test, with the Hawks pushed to three sets. After a narrow second-set loss, the team responded with improved serve pressure and tighter defense, pulling away late in the deciding set.
In the semifinals, the Hawks delivered one of their strongest performances of the season, controlling the pace of play with strong blocking and efficient transitions to earn a spot in the championship match.
The final showcased the Hawks at their best. Confident serve-receive allowed the team to run a fast offense, while disciplined defense extended rallies and forced mistakes. The Hawks closed the match in straight sets to secure the State Championship.
“This is what we’ve worked toward all year,” said team captain Olivia Martinez. “Every practice and challenge led us here.”
The championship marks a major milestone for the Hillcrest Hawks U18 program and reflects the club’s commitment to developing competitive, confident athletes—on and off the court.
